Bruce Braithwaite

Realist painter and photographer born in Manchester, England. Braithwaite relocated with his family, joining American relatives in the United States. in 1970.

Attending schools at Augusta College and Georgia State University, he graduated in 1973 with a degree in visual arts and began working in design.

Between 1984 and 1988, over sixty paintings were produced that captured rural southwest Georgia and Cumberland Island National Park. Living and working in a studio off Peachtree Street, he began capturing city images of Atlanta, the people and events leading to exhibitions titled "Atlanta: A City Portrait." In 1990, the studio was relocated to Princeton, NJ where the focus on urban scenes shifted to New York and Philadelphia.

Bruce Braithwaite also produces photographs and other oil paintings of rural scenes in the north east. He has also been a part time painting instructor at Mercer Community College in New Jersey.

Galleries and agents showing the artist are located in Princeton, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Gloucester, MA, home of the North Shore Arts Association, the oldest association in the United States, where he has shown award winning work.

Collectors include: First Union Bank of Georgia and Princeton Theological Seminary.
