(1946) Annabel Hewitt
Versatile artist Annabel Hewitt creates both spirited paintings and evocative collages as she explores various styles of
expression. For her collages on richly textured, hand-made paper, she layers images
from nature with cultural images and text to create sensitive yet lively tableaux. Hewitt
was born in Sussex, England. Her family later settled in Trinidad, in the West
Indies, where she says she developed her intuitive feeling for shape and
color. She studied art at Tunbridge Wells Art School in Kent, England, then traveled extensively throughout Europe and North Africa before returning to
England. Her style has evolved over the years from abstract to collage to representational, as she
seeks a more personal style of expression.
Her artwork has been commissioned by many corporations, including British Airways, Nestle, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Her art is also included in the collections of such corporations as Citibank, Morgan Stanley, and Mercedes Benz Finance.
