Zhi Rong Liu was born in 1967 in the Chinese province of Jilin. The daughter of civil servants, Zhi Rong was fortunate to attend medical school and now practices as a general physician in the Liaoning Province. It is there that she has been also crafting exquisite works of art for the last 10 years.
A devotee of the "less is more" philosophy of the East, Zhi Rong is especially known for her collages on canvas that incoorporate the simple elements of rice paper and paint. Indeed, it is the lyrical simplicity of these collages that have evoked such strong responses from art collectors both in the East and West. Her "Change Cycle" series has been especially recieved. Combining organic shapes that appear to connate seeds, willowy lines of paint that might imply maps of roads and rivers, along with whimsical paint drips, Zhi Rong's work exudes elegant craft with an understated enigmatic and organic strength.
