Every artist published exclusively by Slaymaker is able and willing to paint commissions upon request.
The procedure is as follows:
- A physical sample must be sent to Slaymaker in Chicago. This may be an actual painting of the artist's work, color swatches of fabric or mat board colors.
A jpeg does not constitute as possession of a sample as the colors are "fuzzy" and false.
- A sketch may be done by the artist for a charge. If requested upon approval of a sketch or a "go ahead" in writing, a 50% deposit is required.
Slaymaker guarantees a 6 week time table for a commission. However, in some cases, we can do this in 3 weeks. The clock begins ticking upon receipt of payment and
the arrival of a sample which complies with the designation previously stated.
Below is a sample of the preparation of a sketch. Sticky notes are attached to the painting by customer as to what changes are required. This clarifies exactly what changes need to be made, if any.
